About Me

My name is Chris Poole and amongst other things I've been a research scientist and a teacher and am still a keen crossword setter using the names Charybdis - CH(a)R(ybd)IS - and Crosophile (an anagram of my name).
Charybdis was an unfortunate sea nymph in Greek mythology who got turned into a sea monster with such a big mouth that when it opened it created a whirlpool that sucked ships down to their doom.  I'm not quite so scary, though my crosswords are!
Since around 2010 I have been an active member of a local East Devon art group, the Otter Vale Art Society, whose colourful website I run at Otter Vale Art Society

All Charybdis Cards depict my artworks in an eclectic range of styles. I rarely know what will come next but I like to surprise myself.  I hope you find something that appeals.
